Dried Wood Ear Mushroom Powder (a Gluten-Free thickener for sauces and soups!)
Forest Mushrooms has developed this 100% wood ear mushroom powder for use as a gluten-free thickener for sauces, soups and stews! It is ground very fine, and when added to liquid it will thicken it very much like a gelatin or cornstarch would do. The powder does not settle out, but instead absorbs water and will thicken the liquid according to how much powder is added. It is possible to thicken to a light sauce, or all the way to a nearly solid pudding-like consistency. The wood ear powder is gluten-free, adds almost no flavor, and is a significant source of dietary fiber as well as copper, pantothenic acid, selenium and riboflavin.
