Dried USA Maitake Mushrooms (WILD Hen of the Woods)

Maitake mushrooms form a tan to gray cluster of "petals" or fronds on a central stalk. When growing in the wild at the base of oak trees they resemble a hen with ruffled feathers and are often know as the "Hen of the Woods". Maitake mushrooms add a distinctively rich flavor to egg dishes, tempura, pasta sauces, soups, and stews. Similar to shiitake mushrooms they are delicious paired with chicken. They are loaded with vitamin D from growing outdoors.

Always Great Mushrooms

After multiple orders, I continue to be always happy with the mushrooms I've received. I am so grateful to consistently be able to get a product that always more than meets my expectations. I've ordered Porcini several times, Lions Mane several times, always I order Shiitake, and twice I have gotten Maitake. Golden chanterelles have also been lovely. Next time I order, I need to remember to order Wood Ears because I really like their texture in a stir fry I make.
